VIP Nursing School

Quick Program Overview:

A Fast-Track Pathway to a CNA Career

VIP Nursing School’s Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) program is a fast, focused, and affordable route for those seeking to enter the healthcare industry. Located in San Leandro, California, the program prepares students to care for the elderly and chronically ill in skilled nursing and long-term care facilities. With an emphasis on real-world readiness, students complete the state-mandated 160 hours of training—60 in the classroom and 100 in clinical settings—over the course of 4 to 6 weeks.

Curriculum and Learning Experience

The CNA program at VIP Nursing School is structured around 17 modules that cover a wide range of topics, from resident rights and basic human needs to vital signs, infection control, body mechanics, and rehabilitative care. This comprehensive curriculum ensures students are not only equipped with technical knowledge but are also prepared to provide compassionate and competent care to diverse patient populations.

The program blends theory and practice through a split schedule:

  • 60 hours of classroom instruction focused on patient care principles, communication, legal responsibilities, and emergency procedures
  • 100 hours of clinical training conducted under the supervision of licensed professionals in a real-world healthcare setting

Class sizes are limited to 15 students to ensure individualized attention and active engagement. This small-cohort model also helps facilitate stronger relationships between students and instructors, creating a more collaborative and supportive learning environment.

Admissions Requirements

To be eligible for the program, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Possess a U.S. high school diploma, GED, or equivalent with English proficiency at the 12th-grade level
  • Submit a completed enrollment form, health questionnaire, physical exam, and Live Scan (fingerprinting) documentation
  • Show proof of full COVID-19 vaccination plus one booster
  • Provide a negative COVID-19 test result prior to the third week of clinicals

Prospective students must also pass an “Ability-to-Be-Trained” test (administered using HESI standards) to ensure readiness for the program’s academic demands. Those without a diploma may still be considered through this assessment if they demonstrate sufficient capability and commitment.

Program Cost and Financial Support

The CNA program tuition is $800, with no federal financial aid offered. However, the school provides monthly, interest-free installment payment plans for qualified students. Payments are expected between the 1st and 10th of each month, and a 5% late fee is applied for overdue payments. While VIP Nursing School does not offer federal grants or loans, students are welcome to secure financing through private financial institutions if needed.

Class Format and Duration

The program can be completed in as little as 4 weeks, though some cohorts may take up to 6 weeks depending on scheduling and holiday considerations. All instruction is delivered in person at VIP Nursing School’s San Leandro campus. The school does not offer online or hybrid instruction for the CNA program, as the curriculum requires direct, hands-on skill practice and clinical rotation.

Students are considered full-time throughout the duration of the program, and the immersive structure ensures rapid preparation for the California State CNA Competency Exam, which includes both written and skills-based evaluations.

Accreditation and Oversight

VIP Nursing School is a state-approved institution under the Bureau for Private Postsecondary Education (BPPE) and follows guidelines set by the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) for CNA training programs. Although it is not federally accredited and does not participate in federal student aid programs, the school operates in full compliance with state educational standards.

Career Support and Job Placement Services

A major benefit of VIP Nursing School is its Career Placement Assistance program. Graduates in good standing receive ongoing support in resume development, interview preparation, and job referrals. The placement department maintains connections with local healthcare employers across Alameda, San Francisco, Santa Clara, and Sonoma Counties, some of the most competitive healthcare markets in California.

Students who opt out of job placement may rejoin at any time by notifying the school’s Placement Department. While job placement is not guaranteed, the institution places a strong emphasis on helping motivated graduates find employment in the field.

Instructional Staff and Learning Environment

Founded in 1997 and operating in San Leandro since 2001, VIP Nursing School has a long-standing commitment to workforce readiness in the healthcare sector. The campus offers 4,000 square feet of dedicated instructional space, including classrooms and lab areas, and maintains a small school feel that prioritizes student focus and access to instructors.

All classes are led by licensed professionals with years of field experience in long-term care and skilled nursing environments. The instructional team emphasizes not just passing the state exam, but developing the empathy, resilience, and teamwork skills required for long-term success in patient care settings.
